Know Before You Go

Whatever you do - don't plan on going glamping in Wisconsin to have just a little fun! Be prepared to have a LOT of AWESOME adventures! Aim to put the "glam" in glamping by making your trip as easy, enjoyable, and memorable as possible!
  • ULTIMATE GLAMPING PACKING LIST | What we provide (although not all glamping hosts do so check!) & what we recommend any glampers bring with them.
  • EXPLORE THE AREA | Plan on a few excursions to have even more fun while you glamp! For extensive information on the Vilas County/Northwoods scene, view POV Resort's Area Guidebook.
  • CONNECT TO THE LOCAL SCENE | Before you go, look up local chamber and tourism webpages for what to do. Explore the local area's social media presence - ask county and community Facebook groups for advice on best places to go and what to do and plan ahead in case there is little cell signal.

How to Cook Glamping-Style

Cooking while glamping in Wisconsin's Northwoods is a ton of fun! Make sure you know what your host will provide to cook with before you go - POV Resort provides a gas grill for you to conjure up your culinary glamping delights.

Here are some tips and tricks for cooking outdoors while luxury camping. We challenge you to "go gourmet" with your version of comfort foods, albeit made in a new setting!

  • FOOD & DRINK | Menu plan ahead of time! Have fun looking up food options for your getaway - we totally love the creative ways you can grill...pizza, a plethora of food-genres of wraps/burritos, and easy foil-wrapped foods are just some of our favs. Read POV Resort's monthly newsletters for recipe tips (also posted on our Facebook POV page). Pack snacks to graze on when you rev up your appetites from all the fun too. Do some easy food and beverage pairings that highlight local fare and libations.
  • LIGHT THE GRILL | Remember to take matches and a lighter with you! Cooking spray always helps.
  • KEEPING COOL(ER) | Bring a good cooler when glamping - they make pretty affordable coolers that keep food very cold 3-5 days. And POV also sells ice on site or make a plan to refresh your ice at other host locations. Pack your cooler with pre-portioned food (pre-cut is awesome)! Put items you're cooking with first on top so you won't have to dig around. Meal plan and pack to eat most perishable items first. Consider bringing a second cooler for beverages.
  • POTS AND PANS | Bring cooking vessels and ways to clean them. Disposable foil pans and foil are a great recyclable way you can cook but not have to worry about cleanup. KISS method (keep it simple, stupid)!
  • UTENSILS | Bring tongs/spatulas, silverware, plates, cups, etc. that you'll need to eat and do food prep. They make great disposable and recyclable options these days!
  • CHALLENGE: Do pairings highlighting the tradition of camping, cocktails, and campfires and share with us what you come up with! Always love to showcase guests' recipes and suggestions in our newsletter and on social media.
