There is no shortage of what to do in the Northwoods. Both Eagle River and Minocqua boast a wonderful array of quality shops and dining options (56+) - there is quite a foodie scene emerging here! There are also a large number of popular hiking trails and berry picking outdoor activities minutes away. Mountain bikers and hikers can utilize the many miles of marked trails, and there are over 130+ miles of groomed ATV trails nearby. Bring your boat and enjoy any one of the 1,300 lakes and 73 county rivers/streams just a short drive away. From remote ponds to easily accessible backwaters of some of the area’s largest lakes, paddlers and anglers will have no trouble finding their own piece of paradise.
In the winter, enjoy the forests and the best groomed snowmobile trails in the world. Great ski hills and cross-country ski courses are also nearby. Also within minutes of the resort are groomed indoor and outdoor ice rinks, day and nighttime sledding hills, and more hiking opportunities. Minocqua and Eagle River are also home to two of Northwood’s premiere winter parks, groomed winter wonderlands for outdoor activities.
For Area Events, the Eagle River area is proud to bring back old favorites like Cranberry Fest the first weekend in October and young, budding events like the SepTimber Ride this September. 12,000 people come to Beef-A-Rama in Minocqua every summer. And, Eagle River also hosts the World Snowmobile Championships, bringing 30.000 people to the area as well as 2,000 competitors competing in the Adult Pond Hockey Championships.
